Seahorse

Many of you that were readers when I still had the original blog up know that Klein and I used to live in Hawaii and I started taking her to the beach when she was three.  She really enjoys the beach.  She wades right into the ocean and loves to paw and splash in the water.

I finally took her to the beach here, and after this past Sunday, we'll be back sooner than later.  She had a blast like she always does.  She's always such a fun girl to take because you don't have to worry too much about how she will act.  I am still on alert for things like kids with boogie boards randomly popping out of the water in front of us, but for the most part that doesn't happen often.

So, here it is, Klein reclaiming her seahorse alter ego.

Walking through the parking lot down to the beach.

Condos by the beach.

We're here for the party.  A lot of people were yelling "HORRRRSE!!!"  Quite a few of them were pointing and commenting on how we were out riding bareback.  I'm not quite sure what the big deal about that is.  If you think I'm riding on the beach and getting in the ocean with tack on, you're wrong.

Watching a boat in the distance.

 Pawing the water.

 Wading into the ocean.

Playing in the surf with her mare friend Addy watching from a distance to make sure the ocean didn't eat Klein.  It was Addy's first time at the beach and she needed Klein as her support system.  She wasn't spooky, just not too confident but with Klein by her side she got braver as the day went on.

One of our gallops down the beach:

 Checking out some surfers.

 Seeing the sights with Addy.

Addy looking to Klein for reassurance.

Yes she does.  Hangs out on a long rein in the surf.  This girl really does it all.

Heading back to the trailer after a fun afternoon on the beach!

Speaking of my trailer...

Random baby birds that we did not notice were in a nest in my trailer spare until we were at the beach!  They were all fine when we got home and I unhooked my trailer.

Flat Work

Warming up for a little jump school.

Klein and I have been working on flat work a little more lately.  I want to get some consistency in and tighten up our flat work.  We've been out hacking a lot lately but it's time to get back to some focus in our work.  I see some time on the lunge line in her future too.

Ummm, my lower leg.  Gross.  What was it thinking?

The expressions on this girl's face crack me up.  I can always tell exactly what she is thinking.  *Le Sigh*  Oh Klein mare.

Speaking of being on the lunge line...  I decided to see if Wes had a clue about being on a lunge line.  No, I'm not going to really lunge him.  There's a really high chance that the other day was the first time in Wes' life that he has ever been on a lunge line.  He wasn't really sure why it was necessary for him to walk in a circle around me, but he's a good sport and he humored me.

First time in his life on the lunge line?  Probably.

Look what I caught tonight!!!!!!!  Wes grazing in the pasture like a normal horse!!!!

GO WES!!!!

He did kind of wander to a couple different places and put his head down like he wasn't quite sure but then he went for it.

Obviously the stalls are big at the barn we board at.  This is Wes, his BFF Rudy, and Jet...in one stall.  They come in on their own and do this daily, even though there are plenty of stalls open that each horse could have their own.  Nope.  Not these three.
